Module Overview
This course provides the fundamental principles of graphic design and the practical skills to implement them. Before taking this class, you will need to:

Know the basic functions of your computer.

Know how to use a mouse and keyboard.

Know how to open, close, and save files.

Module 1
1 Week
This module will focus on becoming familiar with Adobe Illustrator and the course structure and explore examples of graphic design in the real world. They will participate in a discussion explaining what they think graphic design is. They will work on their own definition of graphic design and turn in a final definition at the end of this module.

Module 3
1 Week
This week focuses on color theory and how color affects emotion. Students will participate in a discussion relating to color. They will continue chapter lessons in Adobe Illustrator relating to color and they will create their own color theory poster utilizing the tools they have learn so far.

Module 4
1 Week
Students will continue to become familiar with Adobe Illustrator and the type tool. They will read an article about typography and create their own anatomy of typography posters utilizing the type tool and any other tools learned so far in the course. Students will also participate in a discussion about why typography matters in design.

Module 7
2 Weeks
The final module will cover the foundations of good logo design. students will have the opportunity to review key concepts from each module and apply them to a final logo project. They will create 2 drafts of their logo, participate in a group critique, and finally turn in a final logo that is print ready.
